Well, yesterday didn’t go as planned. I’m writing this entry a day later because I didn’t get a chance to do it yesterday. Scully came over in the morning for a visit. I opted to do it because I’m trying to reduce the addiction I have to working out. Melissa was away with Charlotte so the only time I could do it is when Henry was sleeping. Anyway, Scully left but when I went to workout in the afternoon, I felt like absolute crap with flu like symptoms. They got worse as the day went on too.
I did manage to slog through a run at 7 mph for 25 mins and do some push-ups and kettle bell swings. Far from a glorious workout but something none the less.
Workout:
25 min run
25 50lb kettlebell swings
25 push-ups

Woke up this morning with a bit of the sniffles. Hopefully I’m not getting sick. Had a good night’s sleep, even after waking up at 1 am to pee. I wonder how much of my sleep has to do with stress? The last few night’s I’ve been awoken because of my chapel talk. I think that’s a good thing though. Ideas seem to be more doable in the middle of the night. It’s the cover of the day that really makes them hide.
One thing I learned yesterday: Ideas can go wrong when: It’s not my job to fix them, I’m not a fish, broken on purpose
One piece of motivation: Passion and drive are infectious. They polarize people. It can either extremely motivate or extremely demotivate. It’s a choice, which one are you?
Three ideas: Resistance is the invisible force that keeps us from doing the things we need to (the lady with cancer story). Writing a book about a hybrid teacher/creative process thingy. Communication training fun.
Workout: Off day!

Slogged through a workout this morning. Feeling sore from the weeks work. I was surprisingly tired given the nap the day before and a decent nights sleep. I guess it’s my body’s way of telling me that I’m tired!
Good news is that I did the workout and feel great. I tried to go without protein powder this morning in an effort to maintain a fast, but have already downed my 2 flax muffins. Yesterday was a bit of a gong shot with the diet because I had a shake, tuna wrap for lunch, ate a bag of candy, 2 flax muffins, 2 low carb bars, cauliflower pizza, fish sticks and 4 beers! Yikes.
One thing I learned yesterday: Kalsu - 5 burpees on the minute and thrusters for the rest of the time. Get to 100 thrusters.
One piece of motivation: Ideas are great, but getting the work done is the most important.
Three ideas: Motivational speaking masked in some sort of PD training. Using crossfit workouts mixed in with my training. Using Evernote and my task list. Is it possible? Blogging everyday.
Workout:
22 min run
2 x 500 row
2 x 15 sandbag burpee
2 x battle rope until exhaustion
2 x 40 push-ups
2 x 10 dips
2 x sled push
2 x 25 lb medicine ball lunge
8 mins of heavy bag work until exhaustion

Snow Day! Woo hoo. Surprisingly there’s not much snow on the ground. However, it’s supposed to hit hard all day so I can see why they’ve closed it. Much harder to get kids early than setup arrangements in the morning.
Got up at 5 and worked out anyway. They don’t call until 6, so I didn’t have much choice. Focused on some metabolic conditioning today and found it difficult. Not sure if it was just lack of energy in general or lack of sleep.
Ate pizza last night. Didn’t feel too bad, but regret the carbs. I’ve been doing so well. Keto
sticks say that I’m not in Ketosis. Wonder why...
One thing I learned yesterday: Understand what your mission is. Are you going to change people? If so, don’t deviate from that mission (with regards to ). Vulnerability is an important emotion and state. Courage is derived from there.
One piece of motivation: Pain is temporary, legacy lasts a lifetime!
Three ideas: Create a business that coordinates appropriate PD. Create a PD company that focuses on a ‘fun’ twist to development. Public speaking company.
Workout:
15 min warm-up + sprints run
10 min 30/30 row to 2500 m
3 x 10 clean and press or 1 min
3 x 10 one arm DB snatch and press (both arms)
3 x 10 25 lb jump squat.
3 x 10 pull-ups
3 x 25 double unders

Nice workout this morning. The run wasn’t painful and even the rows weren’t terrible. I felt that my muscles were fatigued though. Tomorrow I’ll get back on the metabolic train and do some sprints on the treadmill followed by a 30/30 on the rower for 10 mins.
Could be a snow day tomorrow! I’m hoping so because that would be nice to have a couple days off in the middle of the week.
One thing I learned yesterday: The difference between a freelancer and an entrepreneur. Also there are 2 types of entrepreneurs: Those who’s systems directly that directly address a need (snow shovelling idea) and those who change the way people think. The latter is high-stakes but incredibly rewarding!
Also: Write. Even if it sucks, just keep doing it! My new goal is to have a book done within 1 year.
Workout:
22 min run
3 x 500 row
3 x DB complex - rows clean and jerk, shrugs
3 x Romanian bag squat
3 x double bar jump (5)
3 x sandbag lift to box and wrestle

Had a decent sleep last night. Didn’t wake up to pee which was nice and I seem to get to sleep much faster than normal. I’m trying to go 24 hr with no carbs since I had a bit of a sugar feast over the weekend. Shouldn’t be a problem.
It’s amazing to see how much your appetite gets suppressed over a night’s sleep. Zero hunger pains this morning.
My workout tonight will consist of some heavy weights. Deadlift if the rack is busy and some leg work. Feeling pretty good though.
Today I really hope to do a good job with the electricity project. The kids are excited and I need to be on my best game! Keep that energy high all week.
I had some anxiety over the weekend. Nothing serious, just in social settings. Very odd since I usually don’t experience that post TRT. We’ll see if today’s dose has any effect. Could the thyroid or E2 be causing this?
Workout:
Back squat
DB complex
Leg press
Wall ball slam
Pull-ups
Push-ups

Had a lot of sugar and beer at a party last night. Didn’t gorge too much on carbs other than 3 slices of pizza. That seems to be my biggest vice! I don’t feel too bad though and will try and keep my carbs down again today.
It’s really nice out - Outdoor run today!
1 hr run 8.5 k
4 x 60 m sprints
2 circuits of pull-ups, one leg rock jumps and bench push-ups
Love it!
Last two days have been a sugar for all. Tonight’s dinner will be carb free. Hopefully I won’t invest another carb until tomorrow for dinner!

Not a bad night’s sleep. I went to bed around 9:15 again and got that extra hour. Charlotte was up in the night but I don’t recall having any difficulty getting back to sleep. Perhaps the pain of the job situation is wearing off. Stafleu’s chat yesterday left me feeling really good. It’s nice to know that people are able to see the situation clearly - even if they cannot change it.
Onward and upward goes the saying. I must begin preparations for my chapel talk. I really need to knock it out of the park!
Ate 2 cookies and 2 pieces of bread this morning. Now I feel like crap. Oh well, just shut ‘er down for the rest of the day.
Message from Jocko this morning: Spend your day so that by the time you hit the pillow, you go right to sleep. Exhaustion!
Workout: None

Down in the dumps yesterday! Didn’t get the job of head of science. I’m disappointed of course, but more with the way I was told that I didn’t get it. In reality it was a long shot. I operate autonomously most of the time. My limited contact with the science department is superficial at best. So I do understand why in principal that I didn’t get the job.
Why so pissy? I was told that I didn’t have strong knowledge of the curriculum. WHAAAT? Really? How could they possibly have expected me to. At the OSC, I was well aware of the curriculum, but haven’t needed it since. And really, what does the Head need to know about the inner workings of the chemistry curriculum? Oh, and did I mention that the job was handed to a grade 7/8 teacher with just a little more connection to the senior school?
Moving onward and upward, I’m hoping to give an inspirational talk to the entire school about Luke. I’m hoping this will make me (and everyone else) feel good. I’ll need to begin to create the template soon.
As far as workout goes, I had a decent go this morning. I was exhausted getting out of bed because Charlotte was in there most of the night. I’m also having trouble sleeping lately. Most likely from the job situation. It’s getting better though!
Once I hit the treadmill, I was rocking. Run was great. Tried to consolidate my workout again with a few exercises than the rower. Seems to gas me pretty good. Spent the remaining time hammering the heavy bag.
Workout:
22 min run
3 x 500 m row
3 x 3 way DB complex
10 Romanian bag squats
6 mins on the heavy bag

Someone messed with my alarm clock and I slept in this morning! I didn’t get out of bed until 5:30, but managed to get a decent workout in. The treadmill sprints were manageable, but I really think I’ll need to dig in more if I want to really get cut up.
Given the time, I also did 2 exercises instead of my usual 3 or 4. The squats I’m careful with just because of my back, but the bag burpees were good. I just went until exhaustion. I’m thinking a day like this is beneficial because it isn’t so hard on my body. I’ll continue with this new routine until my weight changes - for better or worse!
Today I will try and ‘go first’. Be the first to say hi, be the first to thank someone.
Workout:
22 min run - 5 min warm up, sprint at 9.9 for 1 min every 3rd minute
3 x 500 m row
3 x 10 back squat
3 x sandbag burpee until exhaustion
