The last day of February! Feels like mid-march though with no snow in site and warm sunshine on my face. That sleep study yesterday was something else. Goodness trying to sleep during the day was tough. Honestly though having to stay for that extra sleep would have been killer. I definitely don’t have narcolepsy but there is something wrong. I’m guessing it’s something to do with my inability to get to quality REM sleep. I’m going to order those glasses and work on getting more quality sleep. Alcohol is a huge one so unfortunately for the short term it’s going to suffer.
Fitness wise, I want to begin the process of cutting. I’ll get on the scale tomorrow and get a benchmark. Ideally I’m looking to lose 3-5 pounds and become a little more cardio-able. I feel generally more comfortable that way. Once May hits and I sense that the weather is getting warmer, I’ll move into a more beach body phase with some help. For now, just cut calories, maintain the current regime and see how it goes. As always, it comes down to alcohol consumption. The less I can manage, the better.
I need to get the video online and begin the process of finalizing that book. This stuff all takes time, so hopefully I can arrange some time in my day to get it done. Literally just get it done.

Woah. That was intense. I’m here at the sleep clinic and just had the worst time trying to sleep. I think I may have got 1 hour of sleep. The worst part is that nobody can share the results with me. I get that there’s a confidentiality act, but a little hint might help. I likely won’t see any of these results for weeks. Whatever, I’m going to focus on what I can control instead of what I cannot. I’m here for the rest of the day but I’m assuming that they’re not going to find much of a connection between last night’s shitty sleep and any sort of narcolepsy.
On the interesting side, I hope to see the results. I’m curious to know what exactly was happening while I was sort of sleeping. Especially with my breathing.
I over ate yesterday and really feel really crappy about it. Today I’m definitely going to stretch the fasting out as long as possible. I think it might have been nerves. Weird thing is that I didn’t really over eat with anything poor other than I guess a couple of pieces of pizza. Oatmeal, chicken, yogurt, pizza and gnocchi. All decent types of food - it’s not like I was binging on chocolate or something.
No workout today. Although I feel like I should - I definitely won’t have the energy and taking a day off to recover from this is likely good and will not hurt my gainz, bro.
I need a coffee.

2/26/17
Rare Sunday entry. Kids slept over at grandma’s last night so there’s some opportunity to write in peace. I woke up early (although I slept through the entire night) because I have my slept study tonight and don’t want to be too rested. Sounds like it could be a pretty boring time. I’m planning on bringing my laptop and working on my website. Hopefully they have WiFi there and it’s relatively quick. I could also write some blog posts and to keep up with my idea of maintaining a decently up to date website.
Alcohol is creeping back into my life at an unexpected pace. I drank Wednesday-Saturday and came off of a Monday night drinking experience. Need to cut it back to a reasonable level. The other options I have seem to work and I just need to maintain. Having school and working out early really helps with this. The uber challenge is going to be on March Break where there’s much opportunity to drink since I’m not working. Need to stay the course on this.

2/24/17
Reverse day of days today. Nice easy non-teaching day. I slept well last night - right through the night. I’m very proud of myself to stop drinking early in the evening. Really it makes a difference. A couple of beers and I slept well. I think it’s when you start to get 3 or 4 into you that it matters. Same thing will happen tonight because I’ll have to be up and working out around 7:15. Once tomorrow afternoon hits, I’m gravy. So looking forward to having this season over.
That means only 2 more Saturday mornings and 1 more trip until it’s all over. March break is going to be sweet too!
The plan for today is to finish up with my video and post it. Also generate some other posts. I need to keep the momentum going so that I can get some page views up. Also, I need to get working on the Funology site too. I feel like there’s some opportunity there!
I’m going to take today and Monday off from working out. It’s possible that I can sneak a workout in next Friday. Looking ahead, that last week will be difficult to get a workout in. Knowing its a short week, I should be able to workout Monday morning on little sleep.

2/23/17
Bit of a Evernote problem this morning. I’m running out of room as a result of my chapel talk video. Oh well. Anyway, I’m feeling pretty good this morning and had a decent workout. My body woke me up at 5:20 even though my alarm didn’t go off. That’s a good sign. Definitely strange that I went to bed later but was able to feel more rested. I wonder if it has much to do with the circadian rhythm or whatever.
I pretty much finished my chapel talk video but need to polish it and get it into the world. I’m not going to lie - I feel a little anxious putting it out there. I’m definitely more confident speaking in front of others rather than making videos. Oh well, I can test the waters and see what happens. I’ll blog it first and then have Melissa listen to a bit of it. She’s a tough critic. I think if my Apple application goes through I’ll have more confidence, especially if they provide feedback. May not though and I should be prepared for it.
Today I want to write-up some blog posts and have them in reserve for the site too keep it fresh. Ideally I’d like to blog everyday, but every other day is a good start. I can take some blog posts from Cohort 21. I’m also prepared to get my chapel talk video out there too. Might be worth putting on youtube too!
Interesting: I forgot to start my timer this morning but the Fitbit picked up my workout and said it was an elliptical. It even gave me more steps! Hilarious

Eyes are burning with tiredness. I got to bed at an amazing time, but was up at 1 am and don’t think I fell back asleep until after 3. What a shame. I hate when night’s like that get wasted. Definitely issues with temperature. I was chilly outside the covers and too hot in. I’ll need to follow-up with the doctor about that. Sleepiness aside, my workout was decent this morning. The heat was intense, but my back held out enough that I should be able to deadlift tomorrow. The KB swings drained me, but my cardio was descent. Looking forward to a day off running tomorrow too. A couple day break will help reset the body.
Made some progress on the website front. Kind of fun to spend time working on it. It’s important not to lose focus on what the point of the site is - to get people reading it and linking to it. I’ll do my talk over the slides today and post that. I’m also going to start posting some of the work I’ve done with Cohort 21 and last years (?) book initiative.
