Slept pretty well last night. Charlotte and Henry both made it through the night without waking up. Usually when that happens I’m in for a decent deep sleep. I even got to bed a little early which is always a help.

It’s the first day of the break! I feel great and can’t wait to have a couple weeks of relaxation. Hopefully Henry goes to daycare for a bit each day which will give me even more of a break! I would love to use the free time to continue work on my book.

One thing I learned: People use a triangle to make a difference in the world. It’s called the impact triangle. The three sides are as follows:
  1. Do you know the goal, strategy, economy, how the idea works
  2. Do you have the ability to ship it
  3. Do you care
Usually when one a person quits or fails at making a difference, it is a result of one or more parts of the triangle being incomplete or ignored. In my case, it may fail as a result of me not knowing if the book has a need or lack of caring (hopefully not). I’d like to think that when it’s done, I’ll be able to push and pitch it - but even then maybe it will require a whole other level I’m not prepared for!

One piece of motivation: Maker fares and makerspaces are nice. The key is that they not come with a map. When that happens, we take away the point of the space - to build and create something new and interesting. If I have resistance to this idea of 3D printing being the best thing ever, it’s that it requires a map, sort of. I think we need to ride the edges a little more and have students create something new and interesting.

Three ideas: Add makerspace section to my book. Follow-up with some Tony Wagner ideas to put in the book and get some perspective talk to Scully about start-up problems.

Workout:
Off day, but hope to get some walk/park time in!
