Last day of school before March break! I made it. The longest part of teaching is from January until now with cold, dark days that are rarely interrupted. Spring is around the corner and everything is looking like it could be shaping up for a decent spring. The next busy season will be after I get back in April, when I’ll have a bunch of science olympics to attend.
This mornings workout was good. I debated skipping it in favour of tomorrow, but I’m glad that I didn’t. Goodness I’m sore though. A break is definitely needed.
One thing I learned: In our workplace we’re either safe or we’re growing and changing. Auto manufacturers have unions so that they can insulate their workers. Working at Starbucks is safe. You do your job and nobody bats and eye. Growing on the other hand means taking risks, embracing fear and initiating change - all in the name of growing.
One piece of motivation: Fear is paralyzing. The loon story is great. Loons will hear other ones and take off. In today’s world it a paradox. Eliminating fear doesn’t necessarily gain you safety - which is what people are looking for.
Three ideas: Have a part of the book that offers some tips and strategies. Or maybe just keep it high level? The book should be the guide and the speaking engagements, programs are the real gold. The book gets you in the door.
Workout:
22 min run
3 x 500 row
3 x 15 sandbag burpee
3 x 10 kettle bell deadlift (leg focus)
3 x 10 Romanian bag squat
3 x 10 bar jumps
