12/7/16
Well this week continues to fly by. Today should roll quickly and tomorrow will be Thursday. The morning workouts are becoming tremendous, especially with a long night’s sleep. If the evenings weren’t so tough with the kids, I’d live like this for the rest of my life. The challenge will be taking kids to hockey and dance late at night as they get older. It will definitely cut down on my sleep times. Hopefully Melissa and I will be able to split the duties. I also hope that I’ll need less and less sleep as I get older. Doubt it though.
I’ve been looking into my blood glucose lately and am thinking about trying Berberine. I read a warning that you shouldn’t take it if you do HIIT which of course, I do. I’ll pick some up and see if I can continue to investigate why this crash is happening. Seems to be my only real problem these days - other than perhaps sleep.
Workout:
22 min run
3 x 500 row
3 x 7 (all I could muster) clean and press
3 x 10 sandbag burpee
3 x 12 back rows
3 x 10 bar jumps

A late entry this morning due to the coaches and captains breakfast. Had a great sleep and a good workout, even though I felt a little sore. It’s funny that I greatly prefer that early morning workout over a later one. It’s so nice to get it done early and know that the rest of the day is yours. The trouble is trying to outlast my kids at night and try to get some personal time with my wife. A work in progress…
Although it’s only Tuesday, I feel like this week is going quick. Today whole be a decent day and the rest of the week looks really decent for lessons. Next week will be painful as well, but that last week should be a ton of fun! Even the end of next week should be fun. The goal is to try and get digestion done before Xmas and focus on the the rest after. If I can finish the book for the 5s even better!
Workout:
22 min run
3 x 500 row
3 x 10 one arm KB clean and press
3 x 10 romanian bag squat
3 x 10 one arm rows
3 x 40 jumps

Melissa’s b-day! As you may have guessed, it was a horrible night’s sleep. Charlotte was in our bed crying about growing pains. I maybe got 4 hours of solid sleep. The good news is that when I do go to sleep, it seems like I’m getting some decent quality. The supplement combo seems to have an effect and I’ll keep it up.
The next issue is the carbs and falling asleep. I’m going to try this supplement and see if it does anything. The good news is that I really only need to take it around the noon hour and perhaps dinner to see it’s benefits. I also need to speak with my doctor about metformin.
Had a weird gloomy feeling yesterday about the coming break. It’s like I want it to arrive ASAP, but need to get through 3 weeks. I’m sure it will go quickly and next week - although tough - will start to feel more like a break.
Workout:
Deadlift
Tri-pull down
Leg press
pull-ups
20 mins on elliptical

12/2/16
Slept alright last night. I’m simply just tired. It’s an odd feeling knowing that you’re never with a full gas tank. Oh well. I feel bad because my patience gets eroded along side my discipline. it ends up creeping into my personal life and not helping. I’m not sure what the best way to approach it is. I try to get plenty of sleep, but it’s really low quality downtime that I need.
I would like to carve out more time to create at night instead of consume. However, that’s easier said than done because fatigue really hinders any creative talents. I’ll try to work on my website and the grade 5 book as a start to break through that fatigue/creative slump. Really I’m limited because I only have half-an hour at night to make things happen.
Workout:
Brought my stuff today, I’ll see if I can get in for a quick lift.

12/1/16
December! Here already and I’m exhausted…as usual. Good times. This week feels crazy so I’m going to leave a little early today. Rest is the most important aspect of recovering. Taking it easy and slow.
I have a ton on my plate these days and don’t seem to have enough time in the day and energy at night to complete it. I need to focus and try to get it done! Things like this GBL group, Cohort 21, and others are important. I need to follow Seth’s advice and just make art. If it sucks, do it again and again. Cohort 21 should be a priority for this.
Keep writing, keep ignoring the resistance.
Workout:
22 min run
3 x 500 row
3 x 10 cleans
3 x 6 DB complex
3 x 12 rows
3 x 10 bar jumps
