The end of May. I really can’t believe that it’s almost over. The warm weather is here and it still seems like there’s a million days of school left. I guess it has to do with my trip to Ottawa and of course Sudbury. Morning workouts are a breeze these days with the sun alright over the horizon when the alarm goes off. Although, I don’t think I’ll ever get over that mini-hump of knowing the pain that awaits me once I’m on the treadmill. Discipline = Freedom as Jocko would say.
One thing I learned: Being humble and respectful is no only good for cooperation, it is a great way to help establish rapport and get what you want out of a situation. If someone knows that you’re abrasive, they’re going to approach a situation with force instead of negotiation. It’s better to be thoughtful and respectful and - most importantly - detach yourself from a situation to see how it fits in with the greater story.
One piece of motivation: Try not to worry about everyone else’s thoughts and beliefs because you’ll never catch up to them. Better to be light-hearted, thoughtful and humorous then serious and contemplative, always worrying what the other people are thinking. Sometimes it doesn’t work out. Sometimes it does. It’s important to remember that you cannot control it all.
Three ideas: I got this pool idea this morning. If I could use my brother and his buddy’s as labour, I might be able to pull together a small pool company. The challenge of course is to create something that is new and different and finds a niche. There’s a million pool companies out there - why would they choose us? Need to contemplate more on this. The first thing that comes to mind is social media. There is plenty of opportunity to beat out the market in social media. Home delivery? Fast service?
